People come from all corners of the world to celebrate Hogmanay in Edinburgh. Needless to say, the city is bursting at the seams at this time of year and so planning ahead is important. To avoid missing out or having to wait in long queues, do as much as you can in advance. Book a table at a restaurant, buy tickets for the street party and pre-book a cab to and from your venues.
There are a number of customs associated with Hogmanay. Whether you are a local or a visitor, taking part in traditions like dancing at a ceilidh, first-footing and belting out the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne will add a special and memorable touch to your Scottish New Year’s Eve celebrations.
It goes without saying that Edinburgh is very cold during the winter months. A lot of the Hogmanay celebrations take place outside and so not being prepared for the weather could really ruin the fun. Make sure you wear plenty of warm layers and let Capital Cars take you to and from the party.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city all year round, but it is especially breathtaking during the winter months. On New Year’s Eve, you’ll want to snap the twinkling Christmas lights along Princes Street, the spectacular fireworks at midnight as well as all your family and friends having a great time. And if we are lucky this year, a dusting of snow will make your pictures extra special.
On New Year’s Day in Edinburgh it is tradition to climb to the top of Arthur’s Seat and take in the remarkable view of the city and beyond. It’s a great way to start the new year and to shake off that groggy feeling you may have from the night before!
Capital Cars are here to help you get around during Christmas and Hogmanay. If you want to book our services or if you have questions, get in touch!
