Choosing your New Year’s resolutions can be difficult, but sticking to them is even trickier. The problem is that they tend to be things you should do rather than things you want to do. Well, we’ve come up with four suggestions for New Year’s resolutions in Edinburgh that are not only enjoyable but will also deliver that sense of achievement many of us want at the start of a new year. Give them a go and let us know how you get on.
Did you know there is a secret Japanese garden, a live escape game and a Wild West cowboy street in Edinburgh? Edinburgh has its fair share of tourist attractions, but elsewhere there are lots of hidden gems that even many of the locals are yet to discover. Make it your mission this year to explore as many new sights as you can in or around the city.
At the bitterly cold start to the year it’s tempting to spend your entire weekends inside. But if you muster up the energy to go out, even for a short stroll, it can do a lot to improve your health, mood and will make your time off work more fulfilling. For longer walks, Roslin and South Queensferry are excellent locations. You may wish to check out some of the suggestions on the Tours section of our website for inspiration.
Do you want to lead a more eco-friendly life? If so, one aspect you may wish to focus on is transport. Small and easy changes to your usual routine can make a big difference, and can also prove to be more enjoyable. Share taxis with friends and family and ask about car sharing at work.
Work commitments can often prevent us from spending as much time as we’d like with our families. But it’s important that we all maintain a healthy work-life balance. Endeavour to spend more time with your family this year. Enjoy many of the family-friendly activities and attractions that Edinburgh has to offer, including museums, wildlife centres and gardens.
We hope you enjoy our resolution suggestions...and manage to keep them up. Happy New Year!
